Sol-Era Log Entry 2013-3-01  Earth Continuum 7                   335

Today is the beginning of a new month, and we are marching onward towards Spring.
We have our, "  SUN SHIP "  with sails a flashing into the sunlight of a new day.

With the Sun climbing higher into the noon day center inching closer towards that North Star, I am again thinking about the Solar transport system. With a tripod of natural energy now fully activated, with the giants, Solar, Wind  and Hydro, we are fully confident that there will be plenty of electricity to keep a Solar vehicle at ready. So this month we will plan on getting our Solar Ride motivated. So today, I will make a decision as to which way to go in these regards.

You know there are a lot of people that complain about the price of gasoline going up, but very few get out here on the Good Earth and do something  about it. People as a whole have become way to complacent with the status quo, and actually expect others to do something about the problems of energy instead of tackling it themselves. Well the energy is there all around us all the time. The direct localized use of natural energies is the only way to quantum leap our energy problems. It also is the most efficient way, as well with way far less resistance without the long transmission grids that are already over taxed. Nevertheless without regress a lot of people don't have a clue about how to time travel into the future so they become content to just live in the past. Creatures of repetition, reiterating the same old, same old, day after day until the Sun finally sits on their lives a final time. Get out there and do something, make a difference, for after everything is said and done,  the most valuable energy to tap is the energy within your own soul.

Things are going very well today, even though the weather has been a bit nippy with some cool breezes blowing slightly out of the north. We mainly worked inside the shops fixing things up, organizing and getting things ready to sale in some up coming events.
The fire in the wood heater was very helpful at getting the day jump started.

There is an enormous amount of energy that falls into the natural environs from the sky.  Once the technologies are fully realized and become common place within the construction processes this idea of an outside centralized energy source through some kind of metered ticker tape parade of so called, " Utility Companies"  will vanish into thin air. People of the future will begin to design homes, habitats, cars, communities, towns, cities and soon whole civilizations around the concept of a Star in the heavens that will bring the power, light, nutrition, and comfort, into the human family. A species truly in unison with the constant flow of energies coming in from above instead of digging them up from fossils down below. We are truly light creatures, and we are at our own best nature when will live within a culture that embraces this reality.

Today has a very special name, and it is called,  Sun Day and we are truly having a day in the Sun around here. We spent a lot of the day in the greenhouse putting up shelving systems and planting. In the meantime lets talk a bit about the Humanic view of the Sun down through time.

" For centuries, humans have attempted to explain the Sun in terms of their own worldviews. The Sun can be a god, a demon, a mischievous spirit, an omnipotent creator or a ruthless taker of life. Whatever role it plays, most cultures have recognized the significance of the Sun as prime controller of all life on Earth."

For the Navajo Indians of North America, Tsohanoai is the Sun god. Everyday, he crosses the sky, carrying the Sun, on his back. At night, the Sun rests by hanging on a peg in his house.   Tsohanoai's two children Nayenezgani (Killer of Enemies) and Tobadzistsini (Child of Water) were separated from their father and lived with their mother in the far West. Once they were older, they tried to find their father, hoping he could help them fight the evil spirits tormenting mankind. They met Spider Woman, who gave them two feathers to keep them safe on their journey. Finally, they found Tsohanoai's house, and he gave them magic arrows to fight off the evil monsters, Anaye.

Meanwhile in Greece, in Greek mythology, Apollo was the son of Jupiter (in Greek Zeus) and Leto (Letona). He was the god of the Sun,  logic, and reason, and was also a fine musician and healer.  Leto travelled all over Greece to find a place to give birth to Apollo. She finally came upon an island named Delos. The island agreed to allow the birth of Apollo if he in turn founded a temple on the island. Leto agreed, and when Apollo grew up, he changed Delos into a beautiful island. He was known as the god who could foretell the future. His most famous sacred place was at Delphi, site of the Oracle of Delphi.
The Romans also believed in Apollo as the god of light, music, and healing.

Well now of course we know a lot more about the actual science of the Sun,

When’s the last time you gazed upward and marveled at the mysterious, life-giving force that is the Sun? If you believe the whole staring-at-the-Sun-makes-you-go-blind thing (which is actually true), you’re probably not doing a whole lot of Sun-gazing. But it’s a real marvel: The Sun warms our planet every day, provides the light by which we see and is necessary for life on Earth.  It can also cause cell death and make us blind. It could fit 1.3 million Earths inside its sphere.  It produces poem-worthy sunsets and as much energy as 1 trillion megaton bombs every second. All of this, and our Sun is just a plain old average Star, by universal standards. It’s really just proximity that makes it so special to Earth. We wouldn’t be here if the Sun weren’t so close. The Sun has "burned" for more than 4.5 billion years. It's a massive collection of gas, mostly hydrogen and helium. Because it is so massive, it has immense gravity, enough gravitational force to hold all of that hydrogen and helium together (and to hold all of the planets in their orbits around the Sun). We say the Sun burns, but it doesn’t burn like wood burns. Instead, the sun is a gigantic nuclear reactor. For this reason we think of the Sun as the safe distance nuclear power plant.

Today has started below freezing but only by a degree. The forecast is calling for a very Sun filled day.

The true magnitude of the man made disaster that is about to occur due to energy choices on this planet cannot be fathomed with the imagination. All of the disaster movies coming out of the mindset of hollywood cannot even come close.  But that is not what we are about here. It wouldn't matter if we had a million years of fossil fuels left in the Earth it is still not a good idea to burn all that.

Okay, well yes today I have outlined a maintenance program for the new energy installations, and am already beginning to implement them.  The hydro-turbine needs greasing every few months, and the PV modules will need cleaning off every month, or when ever a film collects on them. The Battery banks will need checked at least once a week, including all the connections. The wind machine is pretty much self- sufficient but it is still a good idea to inspect the blades, and listen to the machine while in spin.  All the electrical producing equipment will need periodic testing with the meters to test output, as well electrical continuity.

Okay, yes Solar powered transportation?  Yes!  I have made a decision and this little clip helped it along.

Today the rains are to return, but also the winds. This afternoon the winds are to be upwards of 25 mph so it should be an excellent opportunity to test and put the wind machine through the paces.   I just went out and put a meter on the output DC side of the rectifier, where it reached a maximum of 16 volts DC, which is what is needed. The March winds are just now beginning to pick up, so this little machine will be making a substantial amount of electricity which will subsidize the over all system especially on more overcast days when the winds are usually blowing stronger.

You can buy out right electric vehicles anywhere from 700 to 30,000 dollars and there is a lot of them out there nowadays, but living out here in rural America, on a farm there just isn't much need for that fancy car, so I am thinking about an electric vehicle that is not only functional but practical. Nevertheless I came across this little clip about the whole concept and can be scaled down to fix into any solar vehicle scenario.

The biggest concern most people have with electric vehicles is battery life. If you drive aggressively, batteries will drain in big hurry. To help combat this, some vehicles come with several drive modes that limit to varying degrees how fast the unit can go. Batteries are also heavy, so electric ATVs weigh a fair bit more than their gas-powered counterparts. Also, batteries wear out over time and replacing them can be quite expensive. Electric vehicle manufacturers, however, counter that the money you save on gas and service should more or less cover the cost.

Electric-ATVs Guide

It is a great feeling to get up in the morning and realize that you really dont have to go anywhere, except this farm. It just came to my attention that some of the electric vehicle companies that were funded by the government have gone broke, which is expected, you see if a company is dependent on government grants to start with, then when the grant runs out so does the company. The best way to develope these businesses is the old fashioned way with public interest, then making great products, with service to back that up.
I can very easily imagine a time in the very near future when every single human family on Earth will be living back on their family farms as producers instead of consumers. Once one breaks that tie with the Earth, well you know the rest of the story.

Today is so full of energy, every single system is producing as the Earth is beginning to come alive again with Spring blowing in on the wings of time. Spring is truly my favorite time of the year. The switch over to full outside gardening will begin soon, as I can see some of the fruit trees are already beginning to bud.

The utility power is down in the whole valley due to the high winds today. So this post is taking on special meaning with the Solar backup system this office is still fully operational.

Today the air is very fresh and clean so easy to breath. There are no freezing temperatures forecast over the next seven days. Most days are showing very bright with lots of Sunshine.

The need for speed.  Think about it, a lot of problems that occur in the world is because the human beings are moving to fast, literally. On the highways for instance people are just driving way to fast to be safe. Thousands of accidents occur on the roads every day and all of this is needless. The answer is to slow down a bit to a safe speed then install space age bumbers surrounding every automobile on the highways to where they simply bump off each other without incident if contact happens. The sides of all the roads will need to be lined with the same height bumbers. All the highways can be photovoltaic by nature and all the cars electric. All the heavy freight can simply go back onto the railroads that then will connect all the major shopping centers in every town. This technology is very obtainable and can put a lot of people back to work installing the retrofits.  On the other side of this coin of course without accidents, auto insurance will become obsolete, and the need for highway police will drop dramatically. The system would pay for itself in just a few years, if implemented correctly. America is in great need of an infrastructure face lift, and I believe if it doesn't take on the nature of the future then all that money the government is pouring into pre-existing petrol-chemical based highway projects is just adding to the waste. The technology is going in the wrong direction, with billions of dollars being poured into airbag technology for when a wreck occurs, instead of preventing the wreck in the first place, not to mention all the lives saved.

Once Animals are brought back onto the land, the organic process is complete. The Animals transform the land into an fertile oasis. Although the balance has to be right, just like all the other systems where it is all about balance. To many Animals will ruin the land. The trick is rotation as to remove the Animals off a piece of ground long enough for the grass to rebound, then timely allowing them back onto that area without over grazing. Over time you will notice the rhythm that will correspond between season, Animal, and grazing. In the end you end up with one of the best natural commodities in the world, organic fertilizers.

A great Sunny day on the rise.  Today I did a complete test of the Solar electric system, and every component is performing very well. By isolating each module and testing them seperate, we could  tell how much each one is doing. The system is performing immaculately for lack of a better word. The only bugs we are finding in the system is within the pre-existing building, so we will finish the upgrade of all the plugs, and switches throughout the whole structure starting tomorrow.
