Today, yup you guessed it, Gardening. Finally a big break in the weather. This is the window we been looking for to get the rest of the first wave of crops in. So yes, a window of opportunity.
In the meantime here is some good reading with some great pictures.

Raised Bed Gardening

Okay a little bit more about the technology being used by the micro-hydroelectric system down at the Greenhouse gardens. I am still a bit fascinated by what is being accomplished with this little unit. So far we have been using the hydro-electricity to power this electric weed eater, a few lights, radio, and some small electrical tools in the shop down here, and to recharge batteries.

 

 

 The power head on this can accept various tools and is proving to be very useful around the garden plots and raised beds. This is the brush cutting head for clearing out patches of brush and weeds encroaching on the plants, or just clearing new areas for future raised beds or plots.

 

 

 

A full energy Day is here. All energy systems are full tilt and all battery banks are fully charged and it is just past 10  O'clock AM.  If we get enough new areas cleaned out and cultivated maybe we will find places for all these tomato plants that have sprouted from seed in the greenhouse. We are going to grow about seven different varieties this year from cherry to better boys.

 

 

Okay, we have added a new item to our hydro-electric arsenal and it is the Poulan electric chain saw. The hydro inverter operated the saw just fine while we cut down some of the larger bushes around the garden the cutter head couldn't handle.

 The main garden plot is starting to get planted as well. We will continue to get the land cultivated while the planting will continue in waves all through Spring, Summer, and Fall, then in the Winter we will fall back into the Greenhouse for cold weather stuff. We plant in groups at different times so fresh produce is coming in all the time, over time.

    Today we have started construction on the Solar Fountain and Picnic park. The park will also feature a stream, flower gardens, and nature trail. We are hoping to be done with the project before the 4th of July 2013.

The guys came over today and we got the foundation started on the fountain. Also we laid out and dug the stream. Okay this is our weekend project but during the week it is all around the gardens.

Today we are installing an automatic sprinkler system that will service the main garden area for now.
The system we are going to use is the Orbit 12 Station All Weather unit. The unit can control up to 12  electric valves that can control the water irrigation on a timer. We will mount this unit somewhere inside the Solarium.

 

This timer is the brains of the system. With so much invested into the gardens we are not willing to take any chances on the irrigation this year. This is the type valves we use. Basically the system will use very little electricity as the timer will just send a electrical signal to the valve to open when it is time to water, then another signal after a pre selected time interval to shut the valve off again. The system is organized into zones where one valve can control a single zone at a time thus keeping the water pressure up for adequate irrigation. In our case a zone of course will be rows of plants in the garden.

Okay, there must be over a thousand techno-civilian ways to inhabit planets such as the Earth, and to date the humans of Earth have probably just explored some of the worst. Consider this, what if all the energy and time spent in wars all down through human history is just a waste of time and energy do to species ignorance. What if all the time and energy gone into religion on this planet is also a waste of time and energy, do to species ignorance. Can you imagine just one human civilization on such a planet without either of these? Well, it would mean that the humanoids of such a planet must have a much higher intelligent rate than has been the record here. What about the future? Well, I for one believe that finally we just might be evolving into such creatures at last. As a species we are just about grown up, so it just might be time to put away childish things, and become the intergalactic cosmic species we were intending to be from the start.

Just a passing thought but nevertheless a thought. I usually don't like, "What Ifs " cause you can, what if, a thing to death and never really arrive at any conclusions. Maybe the false religions, But, but I somehow doubt it. Some would question that as a matter in " Faith " well it does take a lot of " Faith" to believe in a lie.. It would seem that to believe in the simple truth would require only faith in the outcome of the very truth itself. If I asked you to have faith in Solar Power, what really am I asking? Well truth is I am not asking you anything other than the natural ability of a Star to light, animate, energize and photosynthesis the synthesis of a world. Does science require faith? Yes, you can either have faith in a theory or not have faith in a theory. Scientist who have faith in a theory usually will stick with it till it is proved, or for that matter disproved.

Three X-class Flares in 24 Hours

 Third Update: May 14, 9 a.m. EDT

The sun emitted a third significant solar flare in under 24 hours, peaking at 9:11 p.m. EDT on May 13, 2013. This flare is classified as an X3.2 flare. This is the strongest X-class flare of 2013 so far, surpassing in strength the two X-class flares that occurred earlier in the 24-hour period.

Earth could use that Solar flare tornadic storm converter. That way instead of crashing our" Grids " we transform the energy and actually power the grids for years as the Earth stores it up like the mega battery it is. The Earth's magnetic field waxes and wanes, poles drift and, occasionally, flip. Change is normal, we've learned. And no wonder. The source of the field, the outer core, is itself seething, swirling, turbulent. "It's chaotic down there," Earth's magnetic fields can only assimilate so much energy from space then it likes, Over loads and shorts out. Grids and all things electrical in nature...All the grounding rods all over the planet could actually glow red hot. Energy can build up in space like a capacitor, then can be released as a massive lightning strike onto the Earth.

 Energy! " ENERGY" think about it, and we actually pay for the darn stuff.

Okay, The price of some things cannot be calculated, yet it is free just by being born onto a world of light, energy and miracles. What is the price of like for instance good parents or a good wife? If men sit around and calculated the price of things all the time heck they would never even get married. Ever! The main incentive to getting married is Love not price...You cannot put a price on clean air cause it's priceless but you certainly can put a price on how quickly one can pollute it up... consider the price of coal in China?

Yet,

There are a lot of intangibles built into the system that are not included in cost. To get widespread use of alternative energy, the greener energy sources have to maintain an affordable level relative to the dirty alternatives before it is accepted by society.
 

Maybe not so Green? As in, "Greener" or maybe not so " dirty" as in "DIRTY" How about just brighter energy for a brighter future?  You know I like how we refer to Solar as such " alternative energy" alternative to what? Of course fossil fuels, coal, gas, nuclear, but consider this, someday even Solar Power might be thought of as," Alternative Energy " when the world invents a whole new thing. It is all about what a culture excepts as " Normal" isn't it? We think that it is the " normal " thing to do? Well, Is go out and buy that car that runs on gasoline, or buy that home that requires utility companies to operate, but in a way we have been brainwashed.
